A wall-mounted pull-up bar, designed as a piece of furniture rather than gym equipment — own product design, from first sketch to a built prototype. A design study in how much a simple object can say.

The problem

[DRAFT] Gym equipment is designed for gyms. This had to live in a home.

[DRAFT — Michel prüfen] A pull-up bar is a simple thing — a bar, two brackets — which makes every single decision visible. Most wall-mounted bars are pure utility: bought for the function, tolerated for the looks. The brief I set myself: design one that earns its place on the wall — in a living space, not hidden away in a basement.

What we did

[DRAFT] The bracket is the design.

[DRAFT — Michel prüfen] The triangular mount is both structure and statement: one bent steel element that carries the load and gives the bar its silhouette. Powder-coated brackets against a polished stainless bar — on a light wall, the shadows draw the object a second time. Designed and iterated in 3D; the first prototype is built and mounted.

The study is complete and the first prototype is built. More views, materials and the question of a small series are on the bench — for now, the bar stands as a reference for how we approach physical products: reduce until it works, then stop.
